Summer at MMS
Children’s House Primary Program (3-6 years old)
The MMS community associates summer with imagination, exploration, and relaxation. For the Primary child (ages 3-6), we capture the essence of summer fun and learning through singing, dancing, painting, baking, sports, yoga, and tumbling activities. Children should relax and be creative!
There are four week-long sessions, each one with an exciting theme:
- 6/15 -6/19 (Artist week)
- 6/22-6/26 (Mindfulness and belonging)
- 6/29- 7/3 (Exploring our city)
- 7/6-7/10 (Chef’s week)

Start your summer with a creative adventure. The week will be designed as a workshop around a theme (to be announced). In a relaxed and playful environment, children explore art history and art concepts while working with a wide range of tools and materials. They draw, sculpt, and paint. They investigate printmaking and collage techniques and use photography and outdoor sketching to create their own masterpieces. To support their research, one morning is dedicated to visiting a landmark, a gallery, or a museum, and each workshop culminates with an exhibition of the work accomplished.

Did you know that Maria Montessori made her own materials for her classroom? Come and join Ms. Lindsay and Ms. Jefferson in the Idea Lab and rooftop for mornings of designing, exploring, repairing, and creating. First we find people in our community who need our skills and help. Then we design our projects for a cause. You may learn 3D printing, basic woodworking, and some sewing to repair and create for our community.
