Children’s House Stepping Stones: Our Youngest Students
Our youngest students (2 years 8 months to 3 years old) join the Children’s House Stepping Stones program. These children attend school from 8:45 a.m.-12: 00 p.m., five days a week.
At the start of the school year, children transition into this classroom gradually and based on their individual needs. Home and individual classroom visits, as well as class time with parents, are all part of our transition process.
The Stepping Stones classroom provides a warm and welcoming introduction to the Montessori program. The small teacher to student ratio allows for more teacher attention to help build their independence while focusing on their emotional and social development. These younger children are ready for a group experience in a Montessori environment filled with beautiful Montessori materials where they can develop skills for socializing with their peers while engaging in art, music, and movement. This class will help the transition into the mixed age Children’s House Primary classroom (children 3 to 6 years old).
In addition to their time in the classroom, the Stepping Stones children receive French and Spanish instruction once a week from specialized teachers as well as physical education and music class in the gymnasium and music room. Children will go outside daily to play on our on-campus playground structure.
