Our Head of School: Racheal Adriko
Racheal Adriko began her tenure as Metropolitan Montessori School’s eleventh Head of School in July 2019, following the retirement of Brenda Mizel in June 2019. Previously, she led the Lower School (K–5) for five years as principal at Milton Academy in Milton, Massachusetts. She has been a teacher for 10 years and an administrator for 12. She has also been the recipient of the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Urban Teacher Scholarship and the American Association of University Women’s Eleanor Roosevelt Teacher Fellowship. Over her last five years at Milton, she led a full curriculum review and renewal. She also launched global partnerships with schools in India, Spain, and Uganda (where she grew up). At Milton, she co-chaired the Trustees Engagement Committee and served as a member of the Budget and Finance Committee.
Racheal is excited to immerse herself in all aspects of MMS during her first year. As she defines the vision for our school’s future, she is looking forward to spending time in classrooms, holding in-depth conversations throughout the community, and experiencing her first set of milestone moments—from the Upper Elementary Play to Kindergarten “Moving Up” Ceremony—at MMS.
