Parents Association events

Thank you to Sandy Papanek, MMS mom and nutrition counselor, who prepared a delicious breakfast for the Parents Association meeting on Dec. 6 and gave a talk stressing three main ideas in providing nutritious meals for children:

  • Eat Food: Food that has one ingredient – itself, or in which most of the ingredients are things you would eat alone or that would be on your shopping list.
  • Eat All Food: Fat, protein and carbohydrates. Pay particular attention to fat and protein, which are essential in keeping blood sugar stable. Stable blood sugar enables your child to be focused, calm and comfortable.
  • Limit Sugar: Be aware of hidden sugars under different names in many seemingly healthy foods. Enjoy “real food” desserts.

Sandy has put together a flyer about healthy snacks for kids, and also her suggestions for choosing dairy products. The delicious salmon that she served was donated by Vital Choice. For a 10 percent discount, use this code: VITAL10
