MMS Book Fair

8 am – 6 pm Thursday, December 4

8 am  – 4 pm Friday, December 5

Proceeds from the Book Fair are used to buy books for our library and classrooms. Parents may also visit the fair with their children before or after school. We will be highlighting books selected by the MMS community so stop by the fair to see what your children’s friends and teachers recommend.

Classroom visits and spending allowances

All children in kindergarten, Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary will visit the book fair with their class on Thursday, Dec. 4. We encourage you to provide a prepaid spending allowance for your children so that they may purchase books during this visit.  We’d also like you to consider making a donation to allow your children to select books to be donated to the MMS Library and/or their classrooms.

Book donations for the library and classrooms

Our librarian has selected books for the library to fill gaps in our collection and replace worn-out volumes. Classroom teachers also have made book selections for their individual classroom libraries. Your child’s name will be inscribed inside any book(s) purchased in acknowledgment of your donation. On average, a library book costs $18 to $25. Many classroom books are available for under $10. For example:

  • $25 will purchase one book for the library
  • $60 will purchase two books for the library and one for the classroom
  • $100 will purchase three books for the library and two for the classroom

Don’t forget library/classroom donations are fully tax-deductible. Any contribution is welcome!

Prepay your child’s donation and spending allowance

Download the prepaid allowance form for your child’s classroom visit to the fair or pick up a hard copy from the reception desk. Please return the form to the reception desk with a check made payable to “Metropolitan Montessori School,” or include credit card information on the form. The school cannot accept cash at the reception desk. All unspent prepayments will be donated to the library; volunteers work with the children, however, to help them make full use of their prepaid allowances.

We look forward to seeing you at the Book Fair!
